Sew great to have a new Community Ambassador
We are delighted to welcome Rachel D’Ambrosio of The Sew Happy Quilters’ Association (SHQA) onboard as a Community Ambassador for us.
Rachel stumbled across our work over the Summer and said she knew instantly that it was a cause she wanted to get involved with. As CEO and founder of SHQA, Rachel is keen to engage her thousands of loyal members with our work too and has already got several group projects on the go for us. There’s really no stopping them…fantastic!
- The SHQA members are busy making quilted cup mats for us to include in our letters (we all know reading one of our letters goes hand-in-hand with a nice cup of something).
- Rachel and her team are creating quilted cube boxes (who knew this was even possible - they are amazing!) to hold our bookmarks in the hospitals and cancer centres that we work with.
- The SHQA will be running several online 'Sewing for Wellbeing’ sessions, where donations for booking a ticket will come to us. We’ll share the details of how to book on here shortly.
- Rachel and the SHQA team attend a lot of quilting and crafting shows across the UK and have kindly taken our fliers, bookmarks and posters with them to spread the word about our work.
- The SHQA has an active You Tube channel, and they’ve added in ‘adverts’ for our work into videos, helping get us seen (and hopefully people engaged in our work).
- They plan to host regular From Me to Brew events at in-person meet ups to raise awareness and funds for our work.
The ethos of The SHQA matches ours; valuing wellbeing, making connections, offering kindness and spreading joy. They have such a strong community, just like us, so are the perfect partner. And with demand for our service growing, partnering in this way helps us to reach and support more people facing cancer.
“I’m thrilled to be part of From Me to You’s work - and engage my members with the wonderful work you do. I know that together we can really make a difference to people who are having a tough time as they face cancer. Any comfort we can give is so worth it”
