Spreading the word about our work

Can you help us to reach every corner of the UK with our letters?

At From Me to You, our mission is simple but powerful: to ease the loneliness and isolation often felt by those facing cancer by connecting with them and showing them they are not alone.

Whether it’s writing to people you know who have cancer – keeping those vital lines of communication open – or donating letters to strangers facing the disease through our Donate A Letter programme, it all makes a huge difference to their days; lifting spirits when it’s needed most.

Last year we distributed 13,500 letters – our biggest number, and making our biggest impact - yet. But to truly make a difference going forward, we need your help to reach and support everyone facing cancer, wherever they live, whatever their support network is like.

To do this, we need:

1.    Cancer patients (and those around them) to know we exist and see the impact of our letters first-hand

2.    Hospitals and cancer centres to proactively offer their patients our letters, so that all cancer patients have the chance to benefit from our work

3.    Workplaces and support groups to signpost our work and get involved in generating letters for our Donate A Letter programme

4.    People to feel comfortable and confident in communicating with those affected by cancer - knowing that their efforts will help to keep them connected and ease their loneliness

5.    Families / friends to refer patients who could benefit from our letters to us, so that we can be an extra support in their time of need

Can you help us? We have lots of free resources ready to send you.

Ensure receiving our letters is not a postcode lottery:

Reaching out to your local hospital and cancer centre and engaging them as an outlet for us means that cancer patients in your area will be given our letters and experience the uplifting benefits that they bring.

Be known in your community:

Displaying our posters and free bookmarks in your community is the perfect way to tell people ‘on the ground’ who we are and what we do - engaging both those who could benefit from receiving our letters and those who would enjoy writing for us.

Be our voice:

Share our stories / news / calls to action on your social media pages – helping us to reach large numbers of people who could benefit from our work (either receiving our letters, or enjoying being part of our group of life-changing letter writers).

Tell friends, family, colleagues and neighbours about our work and engage anyone who’s facing the disease and could benefit from our work.

Engage your community:

Generating letters for our Donate A Letter programme is a continual challenge as we try and keep up with demand. Every letter makes a huge impact and writing one isn’t as daunting as you may think. Can you host a letter writing session or workshop in your area? Maybe with a local social group, as part of a team building day at work, or with your immediate family.  We’ll send you all the resources you need to get started.

Whether you’ve written a letter, received one, donated to use with money or stamps - or simply believe in what we do, you can play a vital role in helping us reach more people. Together, we can make sure that no one has to face cancer alone.

Why it matters

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, they often feel isolated and overwhelmed. Letters - simple, personal, tangible - have the power to bridge that gap and make someone feel seen, supported, and loved.

But if they don’t know about our work, they can’t access the comfort our community of writers offers. Your help can change that. We’d love you to get involved today.

If you'd like to receive a pack of our free resources, or if you’re willing to drop them into a hospital or cancer centre near you, we’d love to hear from you. Simply email us here.

Thank you for helping us turn our letters into lifelines.
