Letter writing prompts…

The changing seasons provide the perfect letter writing prompts. Here are some if you need a little bit of inspiration for putting pen to paper this Autumn...

Whatever you choose to write about, please know that every letter makes a huge difference to the person whose doormat it lands on. To some of our recipients, your letter will bring a welcomed distraction to treatment, to others it could be a lifeline - offering a window to a world outside of their cancer.

Top Tip: Write as if you're having a conversation with them. Let it flow. Add in some questions: "I wonder if you have a garden and are looking at the changing colours like I am?" "Do you have a favourite winter jumper?” or “What’s your favourite childhood memory from Autumn?”.

The aim of these letters is simply to offer connection and kindness - reminding the recipient that they are not alone in their fight against cancer. They will not judge your hand writing, your choice of stationery, or your stories. They will welcome the escapism they bring.

Unfortunately our PO Box is not a free post address. Please can we ask you to affix the right amount of stamps to your envelope as any with insufficient postage get returned to the depot before we can get to them, which makes us so sad. We've included a few helpful tips below...

One of our letter writers has created this wonderfully helpful video to talk through the process of getting your letters to us. Click on the image below (or here) to access the video on You Tube.

And most importantly, THANK YOU for writing for us. Without you and your letters, we wouldn’t be able to brighten the lives of the 10,000+ cancer patients that we reach every year; spreading a bit of joy when it’s needed most. Because of you writing for us, no-one has to face cancer alone.
