We have a letter writing winner!

Our Spring letter writing competition (which ran from 18th March until 14th April) saw hundreds of writers send in their Spring-packed letters to us. We were delighted with the quality as well as the quantity and it was a tough job selecting a winner.

Thankfully our guest judge, Natalie Woodward, found one that she couldn’t get out of her head. It was a fabulous five page letter from our regular writer, Inga, who lives in South Africa and found us last year. Inga wrote about the comparisons of Spring time in South Africa and Europe - with lots of beautiful illustrations to bring it to life.

Upon letting Inga know she had won, she said; "Letter writing is in many ways a form of therapy for myself; I gain so much from sitting down and putting my thoughts and ideas to paper, knowing that it will be appreciated by someone going through very difficult times. Thank you for giving us these simple opportunities to create joy for someone else."

Inga will be sent our fab prize bundle, donated by our super Community Ambassadors. This includes a personalised family print, candle, notepad and note cards from Marina of Marina B Designs, a yummy biscuit box from Caroline at the Kitsch Hen and a beautiful letter writing gift box from Rebecca and Karl at the Wildflower Illustrations Company. What a lucky lady!

We can’t finish without a special mention of the other 5 finalists - Abi, Anne, Fern, Laura and Veronica - whose letters were all exceptional, with crosswords, postcards, imaginative adventures to go on and some wonderful drawings. They all provided the perfect escapism - transporting the reader to a beautiful Spring-filled landscape.

The best thing about our letter writing competitions is that they produce a huge amount of glorious letters for our recipients; each one a real treat. Every single letter - including our winning one - will be going out to people facing cancer across the UK (and a few overseas too), brightening their days in an instant. If you, or someone you know, could benefit from one of our letters, please register to receive one (or one a month) today.

Thank you to everyone who entered our competition. If you’re reading about this and want to get involved and write for us, you can register for our Donate A Letter programme - and write for us all year round! We’d love to have you onboard.
