Sample letter - keep it simple

Letter from Alan that begins "Hi, I hope this note finds you in good spirits. I always hoped that I would be able to teach my children the important things in life so that they would be good people. My daughter is a personal trainer..."

Needing inspiration for your first letter of the year?

Writing about your new year resolution, how you're getting on, successes and failures is a good place to start. Or even better - last years resolution and how it turned out.

In this letter, Alan has turned his exercise resolution chat with his daughter into a resolution for us all.

Hi, I hope this note finds you in good spirits.

I always hoped that I would be able to teach my children the important things in life so that they would be good people.

My daughter is a personal trainer and recently she was offering me advice about exercising.

"Dad," she said. "As you get older there are two things that you have to focus on, staying flexible and keeping your sense of balance."

It occurred to me afterwards that my daughter was teaching me the important things in life!. I'll try.

Take care

Alan

Cancer can isolate people and lead to social anxiety. Writing a letter to a friend, relative or stranger suffering from cancer can make a huge difference to their day and is especially important in January when many of us tend to step back a little from socialising and focus instead on ourselves - those feeling isolated or lonely through cancer still need to hear from you.
