Our Peterborough Hub

Although we are a national charity and are proud to work with people across the whole of the UK, we are also keen to get down to community level and build relationships on the ground too.

Our first community ‘Hub’ is launching in Peterborough, an area where we have a number of key supporters, including our very own Trustee Liz Kentish and our Community Ambassador and friend, Caroline Stafford of the Kitsch Hen, who have helped to bring the idea to life.

The Hub won’t have a physical presence i.e. an office or workspace, but it’ll be a collection of activities brought together by a group of loyal supporters - helping us to reach and support people fighting cancer in the Peterborough area and engaging those who want to help us with our work.

On Saturday 29th July, the first local activity took place - a craft and writing workshop in Peterborough - bringing people together to write letters to those with cancer.

A lot of fun was had by all, with beautiful letters and cards designed and then written. It was wonderful to have like-minded, compassionate people together in one room; helping to spread kindness, joy and connection through the old art of a handwritten note or letter.

And the activities won’t stop there, with new posters and flyers having been designed to put up around the area in a bid to reach more people with news of our work. And there’ll be plenty for local people, groups and businesses to get involved with over the coming months.

If you live in the area and want to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Perhaps you are part of a social group who might enjoy doing a letter writing workshop of your own, or you work somewhere where a fundraising cake sale would be appreciated. Or, perhaps you know of a few shop windows or notice boards that could display our poster, or local Facebook pages who might like to hear about our work. However you can help, we would be so grateful. Please get in touch.
