All about the FUNdraising
At From Me to You, we believe in the power of words. A simple letter can brighten someone’s day, provide comfort during tough times, and remind people facing cancer that they are not alone. But behind every letter sent, there’s a stamp - and every penny raised helps us cover those costs and reach even more people who need that moment of connection.
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to make a difference, there are many creative, personal, and fun ways you can get involved and help us raise funds.
1. Do Something Daring
This isn’t for everyone we realise, but for some, pushing themselves out of their comfort zone is the perfect thing to do as a charity challenge. When it comes to commitment, From Me to You Trustee, Liz Kentish, set the bar high - she got not one, but two tattoos to raise money for our work! Her bold move not only sparked conversation, but also helped raise vital funds and awareness for our work. Whether it’s a sponsored tattoo, hair dye, or a dramatic head shave, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is a powerful way to get others involved in our work and donate.
2. Do something active
Our letter reader, Ben, took his interest in running to a new level by running two marathons in two weeks to support our work. Physical challenges like marathons, charity walks, or bike rides are fantastic ways to fundraise. Set a goal, share your journey on social media, and invite friends and family to sponsor you. You’ll be amazed at the support you’ll receive when people see your dedication.
3. Put Pen to Paper
Not all heroes wear running shoes - some write letters. Writing for our Donate A Letter programme can be turned into a fundraising event. Some letter writers host writing parties, or letter writing workshops where they gather friends, family or colleagues to write together, and ask for donations to cover the cost of stamps, or sponsor us getting more letters out to people with cancer.
4. Host a From Me to Brew event
Our From Me to Brew event has to be one of the easiest (and most delicious) ways to raise funds for us as we send you a pack with everything you need (apart from the tea and cakes) to host the event. We even provide a checklist of what to do to make it a success and a recipe for some writing themed pastry envelopes - plus lots of other items to advertise and decorate your event. Hosting a From Me to Brew event is not only great for raising funds, but spreads awareness of our work amongst your family / friends / workplace / community. And this is priceless.
5. Give in Celebration or Memory
Special occasions - birthdays, weddings, anniversaries - are great opportunities to ask for donations instead of gifts. Some supporters also choose to raise funds in memory of a loved one, creating a lasting legacy and spreading kindness to others with the money raised.
6. Become a Friend of From Me to You
By giving a regular donation to our work (whatever you can afford - you choose the donation amount), it means that we can budget and plan for the future, ensuring that we can be here - giving out our wonderful letters - for generations to come. You can become a Friend of From Me to You right now, by signing up here. It' only takes a few minutes and makes a huge difference to our work.
Every Penny Counts
Whether you raise £5 or £500, every donation helps us buy stamps, grow our letter-writing network, and reach more people facing cancer. Your support helps ensure that no one has to face cancer alone.
If you'd like to start fundraising for us, we’d love to hear from you. You can get in touch with us here.
On behalf of everyone who will benefit from your fundraising, thank you so much. It’s only together that we can help more people feel less isolated, one letter at a time.
Here’s why our letters are so important to so many…
